It's no wonder I love weddings so much, and no accident that I became a wedding and event designer. I grew up surrounded by it. My father was aBaptist minister, so he officiated many weddings. Mother was a caterer, so she would bake the cake, make the punch and mints, and open a can of nuts. I don't remember many funny things from those weddings, although I am sure there were many things that went awry. I recall that they were all very sweet and intimate. It didn't matter that there were just a few people in attendance; that made it more endearing. I miss those simple weddings where they promised to have and to hold until death would them part. More of those folks remained married than those who are getting married today. Was it the simplicity of the time, or was it that they had been taught the meaning of commitment? That was in the late 1950s and early 1960s. In the twenty-first century, we think we must have a wedding that costs thousands of dollars. The truth is that it doesn't...
