Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is second most important food grain crop of India and is associated with the food security of the country.India needs more food around 105 million tonnes for feeding the increasing population by 2020 A.D. and this demand has to be met primarily from wheat crop as this is the only assured food crop which production and productivity could be sustained. Further wheat area is decreasing every year and there is very little scope for expansion of area in the future. So there is urgent need to vertical increase in yield per hectare to ensure household food security.Herbicide rotation and use of herbicide mixture are two major strategies to prevent the selection of resistant biotypes of a weed species. Herbicides with different mode of action when mixed together, bind to different target site in weeds and prevent the probability of target site resistance in susceptible species.
