Sport’s increased professionalism and commercialization with its economic productivity has created the need for policy and regulations in order to control it. In the European Union sport is in principle autonomous but still within the boundaries of the EU Law and the principles of the Single European Market. In the light of the changes that the application of the EU laws have brought, since May 1st 2004 and the effects they have on sport in Cyprus, very little is known about the opinions, knowledge and expectations of Cypriot people involved in sport.
