Contemporary discourses on social exclusion in India are largely centered on historically marginalized sections of Indian society, such as dalits, tribes, women, religious, linguistic and sexual minorities. Whereas children, elderly, mentally ill persons and their caregivers, who are in fact, a cross cutting category across all sections of Indian populations, are largely ignored in the mainstream discourses on social exclusion and inclusive policy making decisions. Situating within this context, this edited book is a response to reconstruct the psychological and social disability experience of these marginalized sections of Indian society, who are institutionalized, psychologically and socially marginalized, economically deprived and whose mere existence is ignored!
