The primary concern about the excessive use of antibiotics in shrimp farms has been its adverse impact on human health. Lots of information regarding the impact due to the drug residues has been published. But the knowledge how antibiotics taken by the animals become the residues in seafood products is short. The so-called “pharmacokinetics” which is the study of the time course of the drug absorption, distribution, biotransformation/metabolism, and elimination in the animal may fulfill the shortage. The book conveys the information regarding to current researches of antibiotic pharmacokinetics in penaeid shrimp. With critical discussion, it gives some theoretical concepts, and covers some prospective views of shrimp biology for experiment, modeling and absorption analyses in penaeid pharmacokinetics. And, brief description of antibiotics in use/used to be in use in shrimp aquaculture is also provided.
