It is located in the southeast of Gipuzkoa, being a reference-class landscape. The park extends from the neighboring community of Navarra. The part of Gipuzkoa can be locked in the municipalities of Ataun, Zaldibia, Abaltzisketa, Amezketa, Lazkao, Toulouse and the lands of the Commonwealth of Enirio-Aralar. There are more than sixty dolmens, tumuli, stone circles and menhirs in Aralar. These prehistoric traces and the fact that the original primary forest has long been restricted to the fringes and mainly the Navarrese part bear witness to the early presence of man and grazing in the widespread pastures and fields (larre) of Aralar, at least since the Neolithic era.
